A few weeks ago I got an odd craving for Mango Salsa. I am just loving all of the fresh, cold, seasonal produce. Especially fruit! Berries and apples are staples, but this Sweet and Zesty Mango Salsa is a great way to mix things up.
The recipe requires a little chopping, but it’s well worth the effort. I love the combinations of the sweet mango, spicy jalapeño, acidic lime, and zesty cilantro. With all that flavor, it works great as a topping on salmon, grilled chicken, or fish tacos. It’s also delicious as a simple snack with some tortilla chips. I love the grain-free Siete Chips or Beanitos for some higher fiber + protein options.
I find this salsa to be such a refreshing summer treat, but I would be remiss not to mention my Classic Salsa here. This recipe came from the healthy bakery and deli I used to work at in college. I make a huge batch of this salsa every summer and it always gets devoured, especially at the beach!
Whichever salsa you choose to enjoy, I hope you love it! Salsa, especially this sweet and zesty mango salsa, is actually a great way to add a ton of flavor and satisfaction to your meals and snacks with a very small amount of calories, fat, carbs…you get it. As a dietitian, I believe it is one of the most underutilized condiments. Let’s change that, shall we? Find the recipe below.
