Restaurant-style Sweet & Savory Roasted Brussel Sprouts

Who else gets really excited when you see brussel sprouts on a menu?! I get really jazzed because I know they’re going to be awesome. Crispy, sweet, savory, salty. I just love those little cruciferous morsels, and I almost always order them. Seriously, if I’m going to Blue Oak BBQ, I’m getting the Brussels. Take my extra dollar. It’s fine. Buuuuuut the problem is, they’re typically deep-fried and covered in a sweet, sugary sauce. Boo. So today, I’m sharing my homemade version of restaurant-style sweet and savory roasted brussel sprouts!

If you didn’t already know, I work for Swerve Sweetener doing sales and marketing. I love my job and all of our products, and this recipe incorporates Brown Swerve – our newest sweetener! Brown Swerve made its debut on the market last summer. It’s great for chocolate chip cookies and caramel, but I have especially loved it in savory recipes like these. And candied bacon. Yeah, it’s as good as it sounds. Brown Swerve really is the secret weapon in this recipe! It’s hard to believe that there’s literally no added sugar. Check out the nutrition facts below the recipe. I’d venture to say a typical serving of these babies could have up to 30g of sugar! Crazy. That’s almost as much as a can of coke.

If you didn’t already know, Brussel Sprouts are a very nutrient-dense vegetable. They have 137% of your daily value of Vitamin K per 1/2 cup and 81% of your daily value of Vitamin C. They are also a great source of antioxidants, and may even fight against inflammation and cancer.

This recipe is obviously a great side, possibly with these Herb-ey Turkey Burgers or Lasagna Stuffed Peppers! But I also enjoyed these Restaurant-style Sweet & Savory Roasted Brussel Sprouts topped with a fried egg, goat cheese, and red onions. Such a delicious and satisfying dinner!
